Land settled !

Our block has settled ... well it actually settled a little while ago but we have now started to think about building on it!

We have changed our mind about 50 times since we purchased the block.

Our original thoughts were to build a large two storey house, with five bedrooms, big enough for our growing family for many years to come. However, our plans have changed. We have now decided to look for a single storey, four bedroom house, to accommodate us now and for the short term future.

Our brief to builders was fairly straight forward - four bedrooms, Master to front of the house, three remaining bedrooms to the rear of the house with own TV/ Lounge Area to serve as a Kids Retreat. In addition to this, we wanted open plan living and an alfresco - not too hard to find we figured!

Well, infact, it has been harder than originally thought. We have enquired with many builders including Porter Davis, Carlisle Homes, Henley, Metricon, Boutique Homes, Eight Homes, Urban Edge, Simonds and many others (pretty much every volume builder in the northern suburbs of Melbourne). We did not want to engage a custom builder as this was going to be home that was nice however did not cost an arm and a leg as we don't intend on it being our "forever house".

Out of these designs, we narrowed it down to these that suited our needs, style and budget:
  • Henley Monaco Nouveau Q1
  • Porter Davis Dunedin 29
  • Boutique Homes Marseille

We had put down a deposit with Henley however we are now leaning towards Boutique Homes as we had only discovered them recently by chance driving past!

Our main reasoning for this is the Boutique Marseille 26 plan is us to a Tee!
Whilst we dont mind them in other peoples homes, in our own, we hate the any extra rooms. We feel it's a waste to have a separate Dining Room, Sitting Room, Theatre Room etc. Mainly because it's one more room you have to furnish, clean, and maintain, when in our house it would not get used!

They have this on display at Mernda Villages in the larger size, 33 sqs. It is actually a lovely display... the WIR/ Dressing Room is fantastic! This size fits great on our block and still gives us a decent backyard.
